After I published the lists of ETFs that hold SpaceX and ETFs that hold Rocket Lab, the next name people asked about was AST SpaceMobile. Makes sense. It's one of the most talked about space stocks out there, and one of the most volatile.
The pitch is simple: AST is building a network of satellites designed to connect directly to the regular phone already in your pocket, no special hardware. If it works at scale, it's a huge market. If it doesn't, it's a lot of money spent on satellites. That's exactly the kind of bet where owning it inside a basket can make more sense than owning it alone. So here's every way to do that.
What's in this guide
The Full List: ETFs That Hold $ASTS, Ranked by Weight
Here's what each fund reported. Same as my Rocket Lab list, the last column is the one I care about most: how many dollars of AST SpaceMobile you actually own for every $10,000 you put in.
| ETF | Fund | $ASTS Weight | $SPCX Weight | Expense Ratio | $ASTS per $10K |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $ORBX | Global X Space Tech ETF | 7.42% (#3) | 26.72% | 0.50% | ~$742 |
| $MARS | Roundhill Space & Technology ETF | 5.38% (#4) | 27.03% | 0.75% | ~$538 |
| $NASA | Tema Space Innovators ETF | 5.35% | 28.49%* | 0.75% | ~$535 |
| $WARP | VanEck Space ETF | 4.99% (#5) | 23.00% | 0.50% | ~$499 |
| $UFO | Procure Space ETF | 3.44% (#8) | 16.91% | 0.75% | ~$344 |
| $IYZ | iShares U.S. Telecommunications ETF | 1.89% | 3.89% | 0.37% | ~$189 |
| $VOX | Vanguard Communication Services ETF | 0.84% | 2.88% | 0.09% | ~$84 |
| $FCOM | Fidelity MSCI Communication Services Index ETF | 0.67% | 3.29% | 0.08% | ~$67 |
| $ARKX | ARK Space & Defense Innovation ETF | None | 11.19% | 0.75% | $0 |
Sources: StockAnalysis.com holdings data (Finnhub), updated October 21 to 22, 2026 for most funds, late October for $MARS and September 30, 2026 for $VOX. $ARKX from ARK's daily holdings file dated October 23, 2026. Expense ratios from StockAnalysis.com and issuer pages. *$NASA holds SpaceX two ways: about 18.87% through a special purpose vehicle and about 9.62% in listed $SPCX shares. Weights change every day.
A few things jump out right away. AST SpaceMobile is a top 5 holding in all four of the new 2026 space funds. Every one of those funds holds roughly 3.5 to 5 times more SpaceX than AST. And one of the best-known space ETFs on the market doesn't own it at all.
Space ETFs With the Biggest AST SpaceMobile Positions
$ORBX Global X Space Tech ETF
The most AST SpaceMobile of any diversified fund I found. AST is the third biggest position at 7.42%, right behind SpaceX (26.72%) and Rocket Lab (8.89%). Those top three alone are over 43% of the fund. It's cheap at 0.50%, but tiny, with about $37 million in assets, and it only launched in April 2026.
$MARS Roundhill Space & Technology ETF
SpaceX first at about 27%, Rocket Lab second at 8.60%, Globalstar third, then AST SpaceMobile at 5.38%. Interesting detail: Globalstar is also a direct-to-phone satellite play, so $MARS gives you two of those names in its top four. It charges 0.75% and has about $42 million in assets.
$NASA Tema Space Innovators ETF
The heavyweight of the new space funds at about $1.02 billion. AST is 5.35%, right behind Rocket Lab (9.03%) and its two SpaceX lines. That SPV piece is worth understanding: Tema values it at transaction cost, so about 19% of the fund doesn't move day to day like listed $SPCX does. Size matters here too. At this asset level, $NASA is the fund on this list least likely to close on you.
$WARP VanEck Space ETF
The most concentrated fund here, with just 22 names. SpaceX is 23.00%, Rocket Lab 12.52%, EchoStar 5.51%, then AST SpaceMobile fifth at 4.99%. If you want AST plus the biggest Rocket Lab slice in one fund, this is it. Small though, at under $40 million.
$UFO, and Why $ARKX Holds None
$UFO is the oldest pure space fund on this list. It tracks the VettaFi Space Index with 66 holdings and about $481 million in assets. AST SpaceMobile is about 3.44%, its eighth biggest position, behind SpaceX (16.91%), Trimble, Garmin and a few others. That's the most diversified way to own AST inside a real space portfolio.
$ARKX is the surprise. ARK's daily holdings file from October 23, 2026 doesn't list AST SpaceMobile at all. ARK's version of space leans toward SpaceX, defense and industrial names like L3Harris and Deere. So if you own $ARKX "for the space stocks," know that this one isn't in there.
I compared $UFO, $ARKX and $ROKT head to head in $UFO vs $ARKX vs $ROKT. For AST specifically, $ROKT and the big defense funds $XAR and $ITA don't show it among their top 25 holdings either. AST isn't a defense story, it's a telecom story. Which brings me to the part most lists miss.
Telecom ETFs That Hold AST SpaceMobile
AST SpaceMobile is classified as a telecom company, so it shows up in communication services and telecom funds:
- $IYZ (iShares U.S. Telecommunications ETF) holds about 1.89% AST, alongside Cisco, Verizon, Arista and AT&T. 26 holdings, 0.37% expense ratio, about $971 million in assets.
- $VOX (Vanguard Communication Services ETF) holds about 0.84% as of its September 30 holdings. 0.09% expense ratio and about $5.9 billion in assets.
- $FCOM (Fidelity MSCI Communication Services Index ETF) holds about 0.67%. 0.08% expense ratio, about $1.65 billion.
To be clear, these are Meta, Alphabet and Verizon funds first. You're getting a sliver of AST. But they're dirt cheap, and they give you a small taste of the satellite-to-phone theme without making it a big bet. And here's a fun one: all three also hold SpaceX now, at about 3% to 4%.
2x Single-Stock AST SpaceMobile ETFs
For traders, there are now three funds built on AST SpaceMobile alone, all targeting 2x the stock's daily move:
- $ASTX (Tradr 2X Long ASTS Daily ETF) launched July 10, 2025 and charges 1.30%. It's the oldest and the biggest of the three, at roughly $138 million.
- $ASTY (Defiance Daily Target 2X Long ASTS ETF) launched May 20, 2026, with a 1.17% gross expense ratio per Defiance.
- $ASTG (Leverage Shares 2x Long ASTS Daily ETF) launched June 23, 2026, charges 0.99%, and is still very small.
My usual warning, and it matters more than ever here: these reset daily. Over anything longer than a day, you won't get 2x AST's return. AST is one of the most volatile stocks in the space sector, and in a stock that swings this hard, the daily reset can grind a 2x fund down even when the stock ends up flat. These are short-term trading tools. They are not a way to "own" AST SpaceMobile.
The Catch: You Get Way More SpaceX Than AST
This is the part most people miss. If you buy a space ETF "for the AST," the biggest thing you're actually buying is SpaceX.
There's a twist with AST that doesn't apply to Rocket Lab. SpaceX's Starlink is also working on connecting satellites directly to phones. So in a fund like $ORBX, your biggest holding and your third biggest holding are going after the same opportunity from different sides. That's either a nice hedge or a doubled-up bet, depending on how you look at it. Either way, look at the top three lines before you buy, not the fund's name.
For the full picture of the category, see our 10 top space ETFs to buy in 2026 and the 13 space ETFs to look at beyond $SPCX. If you are choosing between the four new 2026 funds, I compared them in $NASA vs $MARS vs $ORBX vs $WARP. And for the moon side of the sector, see which ETFs hold Intuitive Machines ($LUNR).
Which Approach Fits You
- "I want the most AST I can get in a fund." $ORBX. Just accept that it's also a big SpaceX fund.
- "I want AST plus a fund that's big enough to stick around." $NASA, at about $1 billion.
- "I want AST inside a broad space portfolio." $UFO. 66 holdings, AST at about 3.4%.
- "I just want a little satellite-to-phone exposure, cheap." $IYZ, or $VOX and $FCOM if you want a broad communication services fund anyway.
- "I want to trade AST's daily moves." $ASTX, $ASTY or $ASTG. Short term only.
- "I own $ARKX." You don't own any AST. That's not good or bad, just know it.
My Take
I'm a dividend investor first, and I reached financial freedom by building income, not by picking moonshots. AST SpaceMobile doesn't pay a dividend and it may not for a long time. It's a pure growth bet on a technology that still has to prove itself at scale. That's exactly the kind of thing I'd only ever own as a small slice.
If I wanted AST exposure, I'd rather get it through a basket than the single stock, and I'd pick the basket based on the SpaceX weight I'm comfortable with and the fee. $ORBX and $WARP at 0.50% do a very similar job to funds charging 0.75%. Over ten years, that gap is real money.
